The Add Components option allows users to add series from a dataset as inputs to the Index. To get to the components, in the step Set up index of the Index builder, click the Add Components button.
Main parts of Add Components
When Add Components opens, you will see:
The list of dimensions in the input dataset. Example: for a Country/Indicator dataset, you will see the Country dimension and the Indicator dimension.
The list of items under each dimension. Example: for the Country dimension, you will see the list of countries and country groups. The availability of items is driven by the dictionary for the dataset.

Scroll along the list of items under each dimension
Hover over the i icon next to the item to view the attribute representation of the selected item
Use the Search box to find specific item
Sort items by different attribute representation
Common actions
Select individual items in each dimension
Select a range of items by holding the Ctrl key
From the vertical ellipsis (⋮), select items using groups or hierarchies. You can see groups and hierarchies if the dictionary includes them.
If the selected series are empty, you can use Skip empty series to exclude or include them from the Index.
